Chennai: TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss and DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakanth condemned the hike in price of domestic LPG cylinder on Sunday. They demanded that the Union govt withdraw the hike.The price of LPG cylinders increased from ₹928 to₹957. This is the second hike in three months after a hike of ₹60 per unit in March.Selvaperunthagai posted on X, “At a time when people suffer from inflation, unemployment, and economic crisis, this additional burden can’t be accepted. Those who came to power promising security of life are making people’s daily lives even more difficult.”Anbumani too posted on X, saying, “Union govt and oil companies should bear the financial burden arising out of global price hike for some more time, and should protect people.”Premallatha, in a statement, said that people were burdened by inflation and price hike of several other essential items. An increase in LPG cylinders, which will have a cascading effect will further burden the people, she added.
