Srinagar, Aug 21: The Kashmiri stage play-Coffee House presented by Young Dramatists Society (YDS) Srinagar at Tagore Hall Srinagar received an enthusiastic response from the audience with theatre lovers appreciating the performance and applauding the artists.

The play was staged under the Guru-Shishya Parampara (Repertory Grant 2025-26) with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India New Delhi and the National School of Drama (NSD).

Written by renowned broadcaster and writer Dr Sohan Lal Koul, the play was directed by Altaf Hussain. The production was presented under the supervision of Mushtaq Baqal and Syed Javed Geelani while the music was composed by Imran Latif.

“Coffee House” explores various aspects of everyday life, human emotions, thoughts, conversations and social behaviour through an engaging theatrical presentation.

The production also aimed at providing young theatre artists with a platform to showcase their talent and contribute towards the development of Kashmiri theatre.

The Young Dramatists Society Srinagar has been actively working for the promotion of theatre and the training of young artists. The audience and members of the theatre fraternity appreciated the initiative, observing that such programmes provide fresh opportunities for local artists and play an important role in promoting Kashmiri language, culture and theatre.
