Chandigarh: Following two back-to-back firing incidents in Chandigarh, SSP Kanwardeep Kaur on Thursday issued strict directives to further strengthen the city’s security arrangements.Under the new orders, checkpoints will now be set up round the clock in every police station area of the city so that suspicious activities can be monitored. As per the orders, the duty of police personnel deployed at checkpoints will be rotated every 8 hours to ensure continuous vigilance. Along with this, all station house officers (SHOs) and in-charges of police posts have been mandated to remain deployed in the field every day from 3 pm to 11 pm.To enhance surveillance in the city, bikes have been provided to every police station. These bikes will maintain a security cordon across the entire area through continuous round-the-clock patrolling. Specific locations have also been identified from where patrolling will be conducted effectively.The SSP has made it clear that the concerned station house officers will be fully responsible for ensuring the security of their respective areas. Strict action will be taken if any kind of negligence is found.
