Varanasi: As Kashi recorded maximum temperature at 42.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday, extreme heat took a toll on people’s health and energy level and arrangements were made to provide relief. SSPG Divisional Hospital has taken several measures for patients and their attendants to beat the heat. As many as 14 water coolers have been installed in the hospital, ensuring clean drinking water for patients and their attendants, as well as those visiting the OPD. Additionally, nine RO systems have been installed in various departments of the hospital.Hospital superintendent Dr Brajesh Kumar said in wake of the heatwave and increasing temperature, adequate shade has been provided to protect against heatstroke.A cold room has been established for quick treatment of patients suffering from heatstroke, where patients affected by heatstroke are being admitted and treated appropriately. This includes provision of medicines and logistics in adequate quantities with a multipara monitor, cold water bath tub, ice pack, rectal thermometer and oxygen cylinder.
