Kalyan: Amid the ongoing shortage of cooking gas, a 16-year-old boy appearing for SSC exams and his elder brother had to skip their studies and stand in a long queue outside a gas agency in Kalyan to get LPG cylinders for the family. The brothers, Jaineel and Aditya Jain, waited nearly three hours before managing to obtain two LPG cylinders. According to them, their family had booked the gas online on Feb 28.Jaineel said, “I have my exam on Friday but the cooking gas at home is almost exhausted. We live in a joint family with seven members, including my father’s and uncle’s families. Since our parents were at work and my uncle is elderly, my brother and I had to stand in line to get the cylinders,” he said. His elder brother Aditya, a B.Com student, said he had to skip college to help manage the situation at home. “The govt should consider giving priority to students so that we don’t have to queue up for hours,” he said. —Pradeep Gupta
