Prayagraj: Patients visiting Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital will soon receive their pathology test reports directly on their mobile phones as the hospital has upgraded its central pathology laboratory’s e-lab software to digitise diagnostic services and reduce delays in treatment.The hospital has made it mandatory for patients to provide their mobile number while registering for any pathology investigation. A new test requisition format has also been introduced, requiring doctors to mention the patient’s mobile number, Unique Health Identification (UHID) and details of the prescribed investigations before samples are accepted.Once the upgraded system becomes operational, pathology reports of admitted patients will also be sent online to the concerned wards, enabling doctors to access results more quickly and initiate treatment without delay. The pathology department has issued directions to laboratory in-charges regarding implementation of the new system.The Central Pathology Laboratory caters to both SRN Hospital and the Children’s Hospital, where around 1,400 to 1,600 patients undergo diagnostic tests every day.To further streamline patient services, the hospital is also preparing to introduce an e-token system at the central pathology laboratory. Three LED display screens have already been installed at the sample collection counters. The screens will display token numbers, confirmation of sample submission and report availability, reducing crowding and eliminating the need for patients and attendants to wait in long queues.Meanwhile, Beli Hospital has expanded its patient facilities by opening three new counters for depositing diagnostic test fees. Separate queues have been provided for male and female patients, while the newly constructed counter area has been equipped with fans and water coolers for the convenience of visitors.Hospital officials said the earlier fee collection counter had inadequate space, leading to congestion and inconvenience for patients. . The newly developed counters are expected to improve patient movement and ensure faster and more organised service delivery.
