Hyderabad: Telangana IT & industries minister D Sridhar Babu said on Wednesday that Hyderabad has emerged as an attractive destination for global capability centres (GCCs), driven by its strong infrastructure, progressive policy environment and deep talent pool, and is now uniquely poised to lead the next wave of digital transformation.“As global firms look to build resilient and future-ready operations, it is critical for us to continue strengthening our ecosystem through innovation, research and industry collaboration,” he said while inaugurating Mahindra University’s new economic policy centre that will serve as a platform for research, dialogue and policy engagement on topics of national economic significance. The new centre also hosted its first conclave on the theme ‘Hyderabad: Powering India’s GCC Ecosystem’.Pointing out that synergies between academic research and industrial policy are vital for maintaining India’s competitive edge on the global stage, the minister said platforms like the new economic policy centre can play an important role in shaping ideas that will power the next phase of India’s transformation.Mahindra University’s vice chancellor Dr Yajulu Medury said the new centre will focus on driving meaningful conversations on issues that matter to India’s growth story, beginning with Hyderabad’s emergence as a leading GCC hub. “We are creating an ecosystem where academic rigour meets real-world application by ensuring that our research contributes directly to the nation’s socio-economic blueprint,” he said.Dr Nilanjan Banik, head of the new economic policy centre, said, “The new centre comes at a time when India is deepening its role in global value chains and capability-led services.”The conclave brought together senior policymakers, economists, industry leaders and GCC executives to deliberate on Hyderabad’s growing role as India’s GCC capital.
