Mumbai: Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) is preparing a master plan for redevelopment of 20 lakh slum dwellings in MMR and development of 10 lakh affordable houses, including rental ones, said CM Devendra Fadnavis.Construction of 30 lakh homes through SRA is part of govt’s objective to make the region an economic growth hub by 2030. Fadnavis said a “no new slum framework” is being developed using GIS-based mapping to ensure that no new illegal construction takes place in MMR. “Henceforth, this framework will be made applicable to other cities too,” he said. Fadnavis said of 27.87 lakh approved houses in rural Maharashtra for 2024-25 and 2025-26 under phase 2 of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) (Gramin), 3.57 lakh were completed and the rest were in progress. He said the state spent Rs 33,410 crore on the scheme. He also announced that govt will provide additional subsidies for installation of rooftop solar panels on houses built under PMAY (urban and rural) schemes. Besides, under PM-JANMAN Awas Yojana, 54,129 houses were approved and construction of 17,929 houses was completed. TNN
