In the letter, written in Telugu, Jagan has acknowledged the bitterness between him and his sister and said, “I am very glad to hear about Anjili’s wedding. Despite all that has transpired over the past 7 years, I sincerely wish her a lifetime of happiness and love. Having said that, it’s come to my attention that ignoring my concerns, you still intend to have the wedding at my Bangalore residence. Conducting a wedding in the premises that I stay in would pose serious security concerns and thus the same was conveyed through various people.”
“Please understand that for an event such as a wedding, it would involve a large number of people entering the property including various service providers, catering staff, flower and decoration teams, event management personnel, videographers and photographers, as well as the guests. With so many people, majority of whom we don’t even know, coming in and out, and videos and photographs of the premises and of the surrounding areas in circulation would pose serious security concerns.”
Jagan has said that the decision has been difficult for him but he wants to ensure that his family is safe. “I was hurt that despite me conveying the very real privacy and security risks through various people, you still went ahead, ignoring my disapproval and concerns,” he has written adding that the wedding could b a destination wedding like her son Raja’s. “If you don’t want to use a convention centre or a destination wedding venue as you did for Raja’s wedding, I’ve even offered you use of my Hyderabad Lotus Pond property, and that offer still stands,” he has written.

Once Jagan’s closest political ally, Sharmila had undertaken a nearly 3,000-km padyatra to mobilise support for him while he was in jail in 2012–13. However, relations soured after Jagan became chief minister in 2019, amid differences over her political role and the division of family assets.
Sharmila subsequently charted an independent political course, eventually joining the Congress in 2024 and emerging as a vocal critic of her brother. Their differences escalated into a legal battle over shares in Saraswati Power and Industries, with Jagan accusing Sharmila of unauthorised share transfers and Sharmila alleging that he was denying her a rightful share of the family wealth. Their mother, YS Vijayamma, has publicly sided with her daughter.
