Executive MBA classroom session at SPJIMR

Mumbai: As artificial intelligence reshapes business strategy and enterprise decision-making, business schools are rapidly expanding executive education beyond coding and data science to focus on AI leadership and governance.

Against this backdrop, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) has partnered with edtech platform Great Learning to launch three AI-led executive programmes aimed at working professionals, managers, senior leaders and CXOs.

The collaboration reflects a growing trend among management institutions to prepare business leaders for AI adoption across organisations rather than limiting AI education to technology professionals.

The new portfolio comprises the Executive Programme in AI for Business Leaders, the Executive Certificate Programme in Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI for Managers, and the Chief Financial Officer Programme. The programmes will be developed by SPJIMR faculty and delivered through Great Learning’s executive education platform using a blend of live online classes, case studies, mentored projects and campus immersions for select offerings.

The seven-month Executive Programme in AI for Business Leaders will cover AI strategy, machine learning, generative AI, agentic AI, governance and enterprise transformation, with participants choosing sector-specific specialisations including financial services, supply chain, digital marketing and technology leadership.

The five-month certificate programme is targeted at early and mid-career professionals and requires no prior coding experience. It includes modules on large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic AI, governance and responsible AI.

Meanwhile, the nine-month Chief Financial Officer Programme focuses on financial leadership, valuation, governance, forensic accounting and AI-enabled finance transformation.

Commenting on the partnership, Varun Nagaraj, Dean, SPJIMR, said organisations increasingly require leaders who can move beyond understanding AI to governing and scaling it responsibly across business functions.

Mohan Lakhamraju, Founder and CEO of Great Learning, said executives must increasingly align AI adoption with business strategy, organisational outcomes and governance.

The launch comes amid growing industry demand for AI-ready business leaders. Citing an IBM global CEO study covering 2,000 CEOs across 33 countries, SPJIMR said 85% of CEOs expect functional leaders to develop technology expertise within their own domains, reflecting AI’s growing role in business leadership.

Successful participants will receive a certificate from SPJIMR, while select programmes will also confer Executive Alumni Status.
