Kanpur: A 45-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider injured after a speeding dumper allegedly rammed their motorcycle from behind on the Kanpur-Sagar Highway in the Ghatampur area on Saturday afternoon. The dumper driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot after the accident.The deceased was identified as Vivek Kumar Sachan (45), while the injured, Surjan Singh (50), was admitted to the Ghatampur Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.The impact of the collision threw both men off the motorcycle. Vivek fell under the dumper’s wheels and died on the spot, while Surjan was thrown to the other side of the road and sustained injuries.After receiving information, police reached the spot, shifted the injured man to the Ghatampur CHC, informed the deceased’s family and sent the body for post-mortem examination.Ghatampur inspector Manoj Singh Bhadauriya said a case would be registered after receiving a complaint from the victim’s family, and further legal action would follow.
