KANPUR: A speeding container truck with a Haryana registration number rear-ended a car waiting at toll booth number 11 at Bara Toll Plaza in Kanpur Dehat late Monday night, dragging it a considerable distance and injuring two occupants, with one reported to be in critical condition.The incident occurred in the Bara Toll Plaza area under Akbarpur Kotwali jurisdiction. A video of the incident is going viral on social media.According to information, Ravindra Kumar Mishra, son of Shyam Bihari Mishra, a resident of Pachhayan village in Etawah, and Rajesh Singh, son of Gore Singh, a resident of Saray Majra Rasoolpur Gogumau under Gajner police station area of Kanpur Dehat, were travelling by car to Kanpur Nagar. Their car was waiting for the toll to open at booth number 11 of Bara Toll Plaza when the driver of the Haryana-registered container truck approaching from behind negligently drove the truck forward, causing a severe collision with the car. According to eyewitnesses, the container driver dragged the car a considerable distance.After the accident, the container driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. On receiving information about the incident, toll workers and toll management were thrown into a state of panic. The toll manager and employees reached the spot and pulled the injured out of the car, and both injured persons were sent to a medical college.It was reported that Ravindra Kumar Mishra was driving the car, while Rajesh Singh was seated in the front seat. Rajesh Singh was seriously injured in the accident. His family members later took him to a private hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU given his critical condition.Ravindra Kumar Mishra also sustained internal injuries. The aggrieved party submitted a written complaint to the police. Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Prasad stated that police were engaged in searching for the absconding container driver.
