T’puram: A special voter enrolment drive will be conducted in the district from Oct 15 to 31 to facilitate inclusion of new voters, deletion of names and correction of errors in the electoral roll, said district collector and district election officer Anju K S.The drive will focus on those currently not enrolled in the electoral roll as well as those who will turn 18 by Jan 1, 2027. Forms will be distributed, and digital help desks will function at village offices during the campaign.With the additional declaration form previously required having been discontinued, applicants need to submit only Form 6. Applications can also be filed online through Election Commission’s website or the ECINet mobile app.Applicants must submit any one of the 12 documents approved by the commission as proof of identity, age, address and permanent residence. Those submitting Aadhaar must also provide another approved document. The EPIC number of a family member or neighbour already included in the electoral roll should also be furnished.Booth level officers will subsequently verify applications through house visits.A separate ‘Campus to Booth’ enrolment drive will be held in colleges and higher secondary schools from Nov 2 to 7 under the tagline ‘Step Forward, Get Counted’. Electoral literacy clubs will conduct awareness programmes to encourage student participation in the democratic process.
