Koraput: The district administration will organise special voter enrolment and enumeration camps in the disputed Kotia region to ensure that no eligible elector is left out of the electoral roll, even as officials reported an impressive 96% completion of enumeration forms (EFs) during the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026.Kotia, located along the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border in Koraput district, has remained at the centre of an interstate boundary dispute for decades. Of the 28 villages in the Kotia gram panchayat, 21 are part of a long-pending legal battle between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh before the Supreme Court. The border dispute dates back to 1968, with both states continuing to claim administrative jurisdiction over the villages.According to official figures, 5,292 of the total 5,497 electors in Kotia have submitted their enumeration forms as of July 5, recording coverage of nearly 96%.Pottangi tehsildar Debendra Dharua said the remaining 205 cases pertain to electors who were found absent during verification, had permanently shifted, were deceased, or were identified as duplicate entries.“The response from the people of Kotia has been highly encouraging. Booth-level officers conducted extensive door-to-door visits, enabling us to complete enumeration for 96% of the electorate. The remaining cases are primarily related to absent, shifted, deceased or duplicate electors,” Dharua said.He said the administration would soon organise special enrolment and enumeration camps across Kotia to facilitate inclusion of all eligible voters.“Special camps will be held in all parts of Kotia to ensure that every eligible citizen is able to enrol. Electors whose names do not appear in the draft electoral roll can apply through Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents. Young citizens who have attained 18 years of age on or before July 1, 2026, are also encouraged to enrol during these camps,” the tehsildar said.Officials said the camps are aimed at achieving complete electoral coverage in the sensitive border region, where electoral processes often assume added significance because of the longstanding territorial dispute between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.Meanwhile, the district administration has appealed to residents to participate actively in the enrolment drive and submit the required documents to ensure inclusion in the final electoral roll.
