Chennai: Anticipating heavy passenger movement during the upcoming weekend, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has planned to operate several special buses in addition to regular services from March 13 to March 15. A total of 310 buses will operate on Friday from Kilambakkam bus terminus will be operated to destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tirupur. On Saturday, 325 buses will be operated. From Koyambedu, buses will be operated to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru, with 55 buses scheduled each on Friday and Saturday. In addition, 100 special buses will be operated from Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore to various destinations across the State. From Madhavaram in Chennai, 20 special buses will be operated on March 13 and 14. Officials said special buses would also be operated on Sunday based on demand to help passengers return to Chennai and Bengaluru from their hometowns. Transport authorities noted that 10,774 passengers have already booked tickets for Friday, 4,682 for Saturday and 9,663 for Sunday.
