Porvorim: With the opposition legislators repeatedly disrupting the proceedings of the legislative assembly on Monday, a furious speaker Ganesh Gaonkar warned legislators that he would not tolerate any ruckus in the House.“To resolve people’s issues, we must properly raise the issues and take the answers from the ministers and then discuss the issues. We must not waste the House’s time. I am giving you opportunities to speak and you need to use this time appropriately to solve people’s concerns,” said Gaonkar.The opposition legislators had rushed to the well of the House repeatedly in the first half of the session prompting Gaonkar to adjourn the House. The opposition MLAs were demanding that the national highway be built on stilts. They also protested after the speaker disallowed questions on non-development zones under Section 39A of the Goa Town and Country Planning Act.Gaonkar was forced to adjourned proceedings for 10 minutes after the opposition prevented business being taken up. The ruckus eventually saw leader of opposition Yuri Alemao and St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar escorted out of the House.The speaker requested the opposition to act as per the rules of the House. “Such behaviour will not be tolerated,” said Gaonkar.Alemao had suggested that Gaonkar was favouring the Treasury benches while trying to stifle the opposition MLAs.“I will treat everyone equally,” Gaonkar said in response.
