In a bold move to uphold justice, Araria SP Jitendra Kumar has suspended three police station heads and dismissed another due to serious allegations of misconduct. The misconduct includes failing to act in a tragic case, partnering with smugglers, and involvement in a scandalous viral video.

Araria: Araria SP Jitendra Kumar has suspended three SHOs and removed another from his post in a crackdown on misconduct and negligence within the district police.At Forbesganj police station, SHO-cum-inspector Raghvendra Kumar Singh was removed from his post and directed to report to the police lines in Araria. The action followed serious lapses in handling a case involving Dinesh Jha and his uncle Chandeshwer Jha of village Ramai. The FIR, pertaining to an incident on Jan 1, 2026, was registered only on Jan 3.The SP observed timely registration of the FIR and prompt preventive action might have averted the loss of life. Holding the delay a grave dereliction of duty, Kumar ordered Singh’s removal.In another action, Jogbani police station SHO Rajiv Kumar Azad and the additional SHO of the police station were placed under suspension on allegations of collusion with smugglers. Kumar cited credible inputs indicating certain police personnel had been extending undue favour to cross-border criminal networks.SHO Prem Kumar of Kuari police station was also suspended after a video clip purportedly showing him in a compromising and objectionable situation with a woman constable went viral, severely denting the image of the police force.The SP said new SHOs have already been posted to the police stations concerned to ensure uninterrupted law enforcement. He emphasised strict vigilance is being maintained and any conduct bringing disrepute to the police will invite stringent action.
