Prayagraj: Unidentified bike-borne assailants shot dead Samajwadi Party functionary Pawan Yadav (46), a former gram pradhan and former president of the Handia Pradhan Sangh, in a crowded area near Handia road on Tuesday. The assailants fled after opening fire as Yadav was about to step out of his car.The deceased, a resident of Mungraw in Handia, was targeted in an area close to the police station, triggering anger among SP workers.DCP ( Ganga nagar) Kuldeep Singh told TOI that the motive behind killing was still not clear and cops are probing the case on all angles.SP spokesperson Dan Bahadur Madhur alleged that the continued killings across the state, particularly of people from the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) community, had exposed the government’s claim of zero tolerance.Madhur demanded the immediate arrest of the killers, security for the victim’s family and financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh.
