While the drive leading up to the secluded home is eventful enough, when she gets there, she feels as if something is very wrong. Z. She thinks this family is out to get her, that there’s some evil in the woods. Then she realizes it’s actually her. It’s her doubt that’s causing all this anxiety. Something is interesting about wanting to blame other people but ultimately realizing you have to go deeper inside yourself to face your fears.”She further goes in-depth with the show and explains all of the important details.
Rachel Harkin finds out the truth
The show progresses, and Harkin learns that the Cunningham family is not the problem, but she is. Talking to an old man at the bar on their drive over to the house, she had stopped and started talking to her. He reveals that he is her ancestor and that her family has been cursed. The Harkins are bound to die a gruesome death on the night of their wedding if they do not marry their soulmate. The old man then explains that he once fell in love; however, the night of the marriage, it never went through, and the curse, which was once on another family, passed onto hers. Haley Z. Boston says that the greatest sin is not believing your person; she explains what really happened
The finale shows that the day has finally come, and both Rachel and Nicky stand together at the altar, about to be wed. However, at the last moment, Nicky, who had been adamant about not believing in the curse, refuses to marry Rachel. However, his mistake costs a lot of lives as the curse is then passed on to the Cunningham family bloodline. The ending roles in and most of the Cunninghams who had attended the wedding, but weren’t soulmates, start convulsing and bleeding, meeting their horrific demise. Nicky tries to force Rachel to marry him in a bout to save his family, though that does not work. Rachel starts hemorrhaging and then dies like everyone else. In the morning, though, she wakes up in a pile of blood, realizing that she has become the next witness. Talking about this, Boston cited that “If Nicky had said yes at the altar, if he had just been even and if he hadn’t grown at all, everything would have been fine. That’s kind of the great tragedy of the finale. Ultimately, the show is saying that the greatest sin is not believing your person is the right person for you.”She concludes that the entire season is a breakup story, and the end plays a symbolic role. She mentions that Rachel’s death represents the couple’s breakup, while her waking up in the morning acts as a symbolic gesture of moving forward and becoming new, while the scars from your past still remain.
