Bengaluru: A 23-year-old software engineer died while her 30-year-old lover sustained serious injuries after the two allegedly jumped from the seventh-floor terrace of a co-living PG accommodation in Whitefield Sunday afternoon.The deceased, Janani, worked as a software engineer with a financial services company at Pattanduru Agrahara near Whitefield. The injured has been identified as Manikya Velu. Police said Janani had rented a room in the PG only on Saturday and had stayed there with Velu. A senior officer said the duo, natives of Puducherry, had been in a relationship for six years. Recently, Velu allegedly got engaged to another woman, leading to disputes and frequent quarrels between the two.On Sunday morning, they allegedly quarrelled and went to the terrace. Janani allegedly decided to kill herself by jumping from the building. Police suspect that while jumping, she pulled Velu along with her, and both fell around 12.15pm.Janani died on the spot, while Velu sustained severe injuries. He is undergoing treatment at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Whitefield and appears to be out of danger. “Once Velu is in a condition to give his statement, we will question him and know further details about the incident,” a senior officer said.Velu works with a logistics company in Puducherry.
