Kolkata: A major fire broke out at a CESC distribution building along BT Road near Dhankal More in Sodepur on Sunday afternoon, sparking panic and disrupting traffic for two hours. Seven fire engines battled the blaze for two hours before bringing it under partial control.“The fire started on the lower floor and quickly spread to other sections. Thick black smoke engulfed the area as flames raged through the premises. Several nearby shanties were also affected,” a local trader said.Residents and fire officials suspect a transformer blast, though the exact cause is yet to be established. Firefighters used foam and water to contain the blaze and prevent its spread to a nearby settlement.
