Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Monday said Rajasthan govt has expanded the reach of social security pension schemes, with more than 91 lakh beneficiaries currently receiving assistance across the state, according to official data. The schemes cover senior citizens, single women, persons with disabilities, and small and marginal farmers. “Our objective is that no eligible person should be deprived of social security pensions. These schemes are meant to provide dignity and financial stability to the most vulnerable sections of the society,” Sharma said, underlining the govt’s focus on inclusive welfare delivery.
To improve transparency and streamline implementation, the state amended the rules governing social security pensions on June 5, 2024. Officials said the changes aimed to make eligibility criteria clearer and reduce delays in approvals.“The amendments made the eligibility process more transparent and reduced ambiguity. This helped in faster approvals and better targeting of beneficiaries,” a senior official from the Social Justice and Empowerment department said. The pension system is digitised, with applications, verification, approvals, and disbursements processed through an online, paperless platform. Beneficiaries can apply directly or through e-Mitra centres using Jan Aadhaar-based verified data. Pension amounts are transferred directly to bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.Officials also said a grievance redressal mechanism is in place to ensure timely resolution of pension-related complaints, pertaining to both state and central schemes.
