Gorakhpur: Gorakshpeethadhishwar and chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said social media had created a space between truth and falsehood in the form of “half-truths,” which he said could not be treated as complete truth.Speaking at Gorakhnath temple after inaugurating Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapurana Katha Gyan Yajna, chief minister said people across the world were facing challenges marked by depression and confusion. The programme was organised as part of the observances of the 57th death anniversary of Mahant Digvijaynath and the 12th death anniversary of Mahant Avaidyanath.Yogi said that despite scientific progress, humanity continued to look towards India for lasting peace. He added that India’s tradition of sacred religious narratives had helped generations endure difficult circumstances and offered a way to understand the country’s ancient heritage.He emphasised that success required harmony between thoughts, words and actions, warning that any mismatch among the three led to uncertainty about what one should or should not do. Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, he said, helped remove such confusion.Welcoming Katha Vyas Malook Peethadhishwar Rajendra Das Maharaj, Yogi said the tradition of listening to and reciting Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapurana was about 5,000 years old and encouraged knowledge, devotion and selfless action.The discourse by Rajendra Das Maharaj of Vrindavan will be held daily from 3 pm to 6 pm and conclude on Sept 29.Earlier, a procession carrying the scripture moved from the main temple to Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan amid conch-shell sounds and Vedic chants. An Akhand Jyoti was lit, followed by puja of Vyaspeeth and Katha Vyas by chief minister and other yajmans.
