Varanasi: Zamania police in Ghazipur arrested three men on Wednesday for allegedly manufacturing illegal firearms and recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, semi-finished firearms, weapon parts, manufacturing tools and a motorcycle.Following a tip-off, a joint team of Zamania police, the second mobile team of the police station and SWAT Team-B arrested the accused from an abandoned irrigation department room near a culvert. The arrested accused were identified as Panna Lal Bind (40) of Soilapur Bhutahiya Taad under Kotwali police limits; Manoj Kumar Rai alias Champi Rai (52) of Tajpur Manjha under Zamania police station; and Sonu Bind (26) of Sakra under Kotwali police limits.Police said the recovery included 9 country-made pistols of .315 bore, 3 semi-finished country-made pistols of .315 bore, 1 semi-finished country-made pistol of .12 bore and 1 semi-finished .32 bore revolver. Five live .315-bore cartridges and an empty .315-bore cartridge case were also seized. Besides, police seized a semi-finished pistol body, a country-made pistol body and butt, semi-finished barrels, trigger guards and hammer assemblies, along with tools used for manufacturing firearms. A motorcycle was also recovered from the spot.Police said a case has been registered at Zamania police station under Sections 3/5/25 of the Arms Act. Further legal action is underway.
