Srinagar, Aug 15: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir) celebrated Independence Day at its Shalimar Campus today.
The National Flag was ceremonially hoisted by Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir, in the presence of University officers, Deans, Directors, faculty members, staff and students. The ceremony was followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Ganai reaffirmed SKUAST-Kashmir’s commitment to advancing agricultural development, empowering farmers and contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
He emphasised that agricultural universities have a vital role in strengthening food and nutritional security, promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, fostering innovation and taking scientific knowledge and technologies to farming communities.
Independence Day celebrations were also held across the University’s faculties, colleges, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and research stations. Deans, Associate Deans, Heads of KVKs and Heads of Research Stations led the flag-hoisting ceremonies at their respective campuses and stations, with faculty, staff and students participating enthusiastically.
The celebrations reaffirmed SKUAST-Kashmir’s commitment to excellence in education, research, innovation and extension, and its continued endeavour to contribute to the development of a self-reliant agricultural sector and a prosperous Viksit Bharat.
