Howrah: On the way to the July 21 rally, six Trinamool workers were injured in an accident in the Hawakhana area under Jagatballavpur police station in Howrah. According to the police, about 35 Trinamool workers were travelling in a Jeep from Balipur in the Khanakul area of Hooghly to attend the Trinamool rally at Dharmatala when it crashed into the back of a parked bus. Many were seated on the roof of the car, which was moving at a high speed.Six Trinamool workers were thrown on the road due to the impact. Local people and police rescued the wounded and took them to Jagatballavpur Rural Hospital. After initial treatment, three were discharged. Two of the others were referred to Howrah District Hospital, and the sixth person was sent to the trauma care unit at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. The police stated that the condition of all three is critical. The accident disrupted traffic, and the police had to use a crane to remove the damaged vehicle from the road.
