Surat: Six food samples, including one of wheat flour and five of milk, have failed quality tests conducted by the Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) Public Health Laboratory during a recent citywide inspection drive.The health department has intensified checks on food establishments over the past few months, especially after major rackets involving adulterated food products were busted. Samples collected during inspections at units engaged in sale, storage and distribution of food in the last 30 days were sent for laboratory analysis.The wheat sample found substandard was collected from Shri Shiv Shakti Foods at Jay Jalaram Industries in Pandesara. Laboratory analysis found alcoholic acidity levels exceeding the prescribed standards.Cow milk samples from Dwarkadhis Dairy at Harinagar-3 in Udhna, New Kamal Dairy at Raza Complex in Sagrampura, and Maa Chamunda Dairy at Deepmala Apartment on LH Road were declared substandard due to milk fat and Solid-Not-Fat (SNF) levels below the prescribed norms.Similarly, buffalo milk samples from Maa Chamunda Dairy and Shri Krishna Patel Dairy on AK Road were found substandard.
