Srinagar, May 25 : The body of a 20-year-old youth from Bemina, who had allegedly jumped into river Jhelum from Budshah Bridge in Srinagar earlier this week, was retrieved from the river near Shalteng Bridge on Monday, officials said.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a police party spotted the body floating in the river and subsequently shifted it to a hospital.
He was later identified as the youth who had allegedly jumped from Budshah Bridge on May 20 earlier this week, after the body was shifted to the hospital.
The deceased was identified as Javaid Ahmed Dar (20), son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina.
Notably, the youth had allegedly jumped into the river from Budshah Bridge in Lal Chowk on May 20, prompting a massive rescue operation involving SDRF, River Police and Army’s MARCOS deep divers.—(KNO)
