Coimbatore: Six guest workers were arrested on Wednesday, in connection with the murder of a fellow guest worker near Othakkalmandapam in Coimbatore district on Monday.Chettipalayam police have identified the arrested as Tuithe Reang, 22, Sunil Rai Reang, 24, Kotho Ram Reang, 30, Sumit Kumar, 20, Sramit Trang, 35, and Santhosh Kumar, 20, all from Tripura.The crime came to light on Tuesday, when an unidentified man’s body was found buried in a pit near Othakkalmandapam within Chettipalayam police station limits. A case was registered and the deceased was eventually identified as Badal Shit, 24, from West Bengal.Investigation revealed that the deceased and the accused were working as housekeeping staff in a private college near Othakkalmandapam. On Monday night they had all consumed alcohol together, and an altercation broke out when the accused asked Badal Shit for money to buy more alcohol, and he refused.“During the altercation, the accused beat him, and Badal Shit died of the severe injuries he suffered in the assault. They then buried him and fled,” said an officer.All six were produced before the judicial magistrate and remanded in custody.
