Patna: Siwan Police has arrested a man accused of circulating a video on social media, allegedly containing objectionable and misleading remarks against chief minister Samrat Choudhary. Police said the content was intended to disturb social harmony and create a law-and-order situation.According to the office of superintendent of police, the accused has been identified as Rupesh Tiwari alias Ajit Mani Tripathi, a resident of Jayjor village under Andar police station area. He was arrested based on technical evidence and witness statements and has been remanded to judicial custody.Police officials said the video was recorded during a candlelight march held on June 22, 2026, from DAV Mor to JP Chowk in town area. The march was organised by Jan Chetna Manch, Siwan, to protest the police killing of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari in Belauti village under Andar police station area in Bhojpur in alleged police encounter. During the procession, a participant allegedly made derogatory comments against the CM, and the video later surfaced on social media.After taking cognizance of the viral clip, the town police station registered an FIR and launched an investigation, treating the incident as an attempt to disrupt communal harmony and public order. Acting on technical analysis and human intelligence, a joint police team led by City police station SHO Avinash Kumar and Andar police station SHO Sunil Kumar arrested the accused.Police also revealed that Rupesh has a criminal record with several cases already registered against him. These include assault and attempt-to-murder cases registered at Andar police station in 2017 and 2022. He is also named in cases related to murder, Arms and NDPS Acts at Town police station in 2023, besides another attempt-to-murder and Arms Act case registered at Hussainganj police station.
