Anandpur Sahib: The special investigation team (SIT) constituted in connection with the rape case registered against the sacked Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Amarjit Singh Chawla reached the serais of Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday and proceeded with the probe. The SIT recorded the statement of the victim woman and also visited the relevant locations.After examining the investigation records received earlier, the team has initiated the process of collecting facts and evidence related to the case.Speaking to the media, SIT chairperson and Faridkot senior superintendent of police (SPS) Gurbans Singh Bains, stated that the Anandpur Sahib police had handed over the records related to the case to their team.After examining these records, the team recorded the victim woman’s statement and obtained detailed information from her regarding the sequence of events. Following this, the team visited all the locations where the victim woman was allegedly made to stay or was detained.He stated that the SIT was conducting a preliminary investigation into the case and that additional relevant records are also required to take the investigation forward. “In this regard, efforts will be made to obtain the necessary records in coordination with the SGPC,” SSP Bains said.
