Bengaluru: With the Sept 23 deadline for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls closing in, only 6.5 lakh of the 84 lakh voters eligible to seek re-inclusion have applied through Forms 6 and 6A.A total of 1.08 crore names were struck off the draft list after being marked absent, shifted, dead or duplicate, or refused to sign the enumeration form (ASDDO). Form 6 for resident voters and form 6A for NRIs are the only routes to rejoin the list.From June 16 to Sept 18, over 6.4 lakh people applied via Form 6, while 4,302 NRI voters used Form 6A. A bulk of these applications came in before citizens received notices over logical discrepancies. Only 1.07 lakh forms were filed after Aug 23, when the ASDDO list was made public.Excluding dead and duplicate categories, 84 lakh voters figure in absent, shifted and refused-to-sign categories. Against this number, 1.69 lakh applications were filed through Forms 6 and 6A over the past 26 days. Or, just 2% of those who have been issued notices.Chief electoral officer Anbu Kumar said there is no fixed deadline for submitting Form 6, but those who apply before Sept 23 will make it to the final SIR rolls due on Oct 27, after verification.
