Kolkata: Minati Sen, 58, a resident of Baruajibi area in Hoogly’s Rishra gram panchayat, died by suicide on Saturday night, allegedly after she came to know that her name was struck off the voter list following SIR. Her son Bhola Sen found her hanging from the ceiling after he returned home from work. He called his neighbours to open the locked door to find his mother hanging.Meanwhile, an 82-year-old from Bhatora village under Sultanpur GP of Kalna I Block in East Burdwan died of heart attack allegedly triggered by severe stress since Saturday evening after the release of SIR supplementary list, in which his name was allegedly deleted.Bhola alleged there was confusion over her mother’s name, as it appeared as Minu Sen on her voter ID and Minati Sen on Aadhaar. Trinamool candidate from Serampore, Tanmoy Ghosh, visited the family of Sen. He said that BJP was playing with people’s lives. BJP’s Manoj Singh said Sen was suffering from depression.
