Mapusa: The judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Mapusa, has committed the Siolim accident case to the sessions court at Merces under a committal order issued on Aug 14, 2026. The case relates to a May 29 crash in which a jeep, allegedly driven by a person under the influence of alcohol, crossed lanes near Fernandes Waddo and struck an oncoming scooter.The scooter rider, Sanket Dabholkar, succumbed to his injuries on the way to the District Hospital, Mapusa, while the pillion rider, Nischay Morajkar, sustained grievous injuries.The accused driver, Yadukrishnan S, a 29-year-old native of Alappuzha, Kerala, residing in Siolim, faces charges under sections of the BNS 2023 and the motor vehicles act, including Section 105 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.As the charge under Section 105 is exclusively triable by a sessions court, JMFC Sunita Gaunekar committed the case to the sessions court. The Colvale jail authorities have been directed to produce the accused on Aug 25, while case records and evidence must be submitted by Aug 18.
