Mapusa: Anjuna police have registered a criminal case against a Mumbai-based couple for allegedly cheating a Siolim resident of Rs 85.5 lakh on the promise of lucrative business returns.The FIR was registered on Friday on a complaint by 40-year-old Megha Gupta. Police identified the accused as Sancket Kamdar and Heena Kamdar, residents of Vile Parle East, Mumbai.As per the complaint, between June 6, 2023, and May 19, 2024, the accused, acting with common intention, induced Gupta to invest in their business at Siolim by promising attractive returns. Gupta allegedly invested Rs 85.5 lakh. The accused initially paid Rs 1.2 lakh as returns to gain her trust, but later stopped payments and failed to honour their commitments.Anjuna police registered the case under Section 420 read with Section 34 of the IPC.
