New Delhi: A 70-year-old singer was found dead inside his locked house in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri Extension, nearly three days after he was last contacted, police said.The deceased, identified as Rabi Dey, originally from Kolkata, was residing alone for the past three years. Police said they received a PCR call around 11 pm on Aug 14 after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the house.A police team reached the spot and found the iron gate locked from inside, with no other entry point. The fire brigade was called to break open the gate, following which Dey’s body was recovered. A forensic team inspected the scene and the body was shifted to AIIMS mortuary for post-mortem.During the investigation, police recorded the statements of Dey’s two sons, Torjo Dey and Rongon Dey, both singers who live in Lajpat Nagar-II. They told the cops that their parents had divorced several years ago and they had been unable to contact their father for the past two to three days due to work commitments.The post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS on Aug 16, following which the body was handed over to the family.Police said no signs of foul play were found during the preliminary investigation. Inquest proceedings under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated.
