Ghaziabad: Residents of Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad voiced frustration over poor infrastructure and unfulfilled promises. Now home to nearly 1.5 lakh residents over the past five years, the locality is grappling with broken and inadequate roads, waterlogging, poor waste disposal, and a lack of parks and other basic amenities.Atul Sinha, a resident of Prateek Grand City, said the area has been grappling with issues such as pothole-ridden roads, stagnant water, and the dumping of construction debris in key areas. “We shifted here in 2021, drawn by the promise of better connectivity and infrastructure, yet we are left with necessities like roads and healthcare facilities unmet, relying solely on private transport to navigate the area,” he said.Residents say illegal encroachments have made things worse. People are frustrated because certain areas are still occupied by encroachers, which block possible development. Some of the major societies affected include Prateek Grand City, Apex Kremlin, Gaur Siddhartham, SG Shekhar Heights, Ganga Yamuna Society, Florence Homes, Brahmaputra Enclave, and others. They criticised UP Awas Vikas for diverting focus toward high-interest-rate housing projects while neglecting essential services in Siddharth Vihar. Tarun Gupta, a resident of Prateek Grand City, said, “We moved here in hopes of better amenities, but after years of waiting, the situation has only deteriorated. The focus seems to be on selling luxury flats rather than developing the community.”Residents also raised safety concerns, including a lack of streetlights and poor traffic management, contributing to the area’s deteriorating conditions.
