Jhansi: SSP Jhansi BBGTS Murthy has suspended a sub-inspector posted in Jhansi district on Tuesday after his name surfaced in a case of gang rape and blackmail lodged by a woman constable posted in Jhansi and belonging to Mathura district on Monday.As per the details, the accused S-I Ravikant Goswami, who originally belongs to Bagpat, was posted in Chirgaon police station. On Monday, a constable also posted in Jhansi and originally belonging to Mathura, went to Jamunapar police station and lodged a complaint against the S-I and his friend.The victim, in her complaint, has alleged that on February 17 and 18, 2023 there was a marriage function at her place which was attended by Ravikant also. He invited the victim to a guest house, raped her after drugging her and clicked her photos and videos in a compromising position.Ravikant then started blackmailing her by threatening her to expose the photographs. He called her to various places and raped her repeatedly. During this she was once called to Moradabad and was gang raped along with one of his friends Deekshant Sharma. The victim could not bear the continuous trauma and filed a complaint. Station officer Jamunapar police station of Mathura district Ajay Kishore said that an FIR was lodged against Ravikant Goswami and Deekshant Sharma under sections 376 D, 328, 323, 325, 504, 506 of IPC on Monday.On the other hand, taking cognizance of the report, SSP Jhansi suspended Ravikant and initiated an enquiry of the allegations to circle officer city Ramveer Singh.
