TOI on Thursday reported on the complex authorities on Wednesday announcing the presence of coliform in water, barely a day after assuring them of safe supply. “Bengal Shapoorji Housing Development Pvt Ltd is working in close coordination with NKDA and PHED to resolve the water quality concerns at Cluster E, Shukhobrishti. We conducted a seven-stage cleaning of underground reservoirs and the 144 overhead tanks there,” a BSHDPL spokesperson said on Thursday. “Despite initial corrective measures, water tested on Wednesday showed traces of coliform bacteria in some samples, although the water test reports shared by NKDA/PHED on Tuesday showed none.” Over 300 people in the complex have fallen ill over the past month, reportedly owing to water contamination. On Wednesday night, residents staged a protest, demanding a solution, forcing the facility management and Techno City PS cops to reach the spot. “BSHDPL asked NKDA to evaluate a handover of the water and drainage system to govt agencies. We are consulting JU experts,” the spokesperson said.
