Kanpur: A few spells of afternoon rain brought fleeting relief from the sultry weather in Kanpur on Monday, but the patchy showers for the third consecutive day did little to ease the heat, with the maximum temperature instead climbing slightly from the previous day.After widespread rainfall across the city on Saturday and Sunday, Monday saw showers confined to a few pockets, particularly in parts of South Kanpur.The CSA weather observatory recorded the maximum temperature at 34.2°C, 0.6°C higher than Sunday. The feel temperature, however, hovered around 37°C, while the minimum temperature dipped to 24.4°C.Northeasterly winds blew at 4.8 kmph but offered little respite as humidity climbed to 87%. The morning began under fog-like conditions that cleared after sunrise, making way for bright sunshine that added to the discomfort of people travelling outdoors.The weather briefly turned pleasant in parts of South Kanpur after pocket showers, but the respite was short-lived.CSA weather expert S N Sunil Pandey said cloud movement over the next three days could trigger localised thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and light rain or drizzle. He added that intense humidity would persist whenever sunshine returned.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast mainly clear and sunny weather across all districts of the Kanpur division over the next 24 hours. With the probability of rainfall estimated at 0-15%, heat and high humidity are likely to persist.In Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat, bright sunshine is expected throughout the day. The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 34°C and 35°C, while the minimum may be around 27°C. Northeasterly winds are expected to blow at 4-5 mph.
