TNNLudhiana: After days of sweltering heat, residents finally experienced relief as day temperature dropped sharply on Thursday. The weather department has forecast more rainfall in the district over the next two days.The sky remained cloudy at night and rain was reported in parts of the city.According to the meteorological department, the city received 16mm rain between 8.30am on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday. No rain was recorded between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday.The showers had a clear impact on temperature. Maximum temperature was 35.2 degrees Celsius, 3.1 degrees below normal and 8.4 degrees lower than the previous day.Minimum temperature also dipped, settling at 21.4 degrees Celsius, which was 4.2 degrees less than the night before.With temperatures remaining below normal, the weather department issued an orange alert for Friday and a yellow alert for Saturday and Sunday. Forecasts indicate partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.A yellow alert signals potentially adverse weather and advises caution. An orange alert indicates higher risk and calls for preparedness against possible disruptions and heat-related health concerns.The sudden drop in temperature brought visible relief. Residents said the weather had turned pleasant after days of oppressive heat.
