Prayagraj: Like PCS 2024 topper Neha Panchal, the second and third rank holders too come from modest family backgrounds, where resources may be limited but not the ambition. While Ananya’s father runs a small general store in Rae Bareli, Abhay Pratap Singh’s father serves as a sub-inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police and is posted in Ghaziabad. Ananya Trivedi, 27, has secured second rank in her third attempt. She did not clear the preliminary examination in her previous attempts, making her success even more significant. She completed her schooling at SJS Public School, Rae Bareli, and went on to pursue graduation in Sociology from Banaras Hindu University in 2019 and was a gold medallist. Later, she completed her postgraduate degree in sociology from Indira Gandhi National Open University in 2022. Her mother is a junior high school teacher, and her brother is a central govt employee (Union home ministry). Ananya said the mains examination went well, but she never imagined that she would secure such a high rank in the merit list. She, however, said she would keep trying to crack the UPPSC exam. Abhay Pratap Singh, 23, a resident of Bijnor, secured the third rank in his very first attempt. He completed his early schooling at Dhampur Vidya Mandir in Bijnor before moving to Delhi for higher studies. He graduated with Hindi Honours from Hansraj College. Abhay said he was only expecting to clear the examination and was overwhelmed to find himself among the top rankers. His mother is a homemaker, and his sister works as a sonographer in the income tax department.
