LUCKNOW: In a swift and courageous response, the station house officer (SHO) of Mahanagar police station rescued a wheelchair-bound woman trapped inside a burning house in Lucknow, averting a potential tragedy.The incident was reported near the IT Metro station on Faizabad Road, where a fire broke out in a residential building, triggering panic among occupants. According to officials, the blaze originated in a ground-floor room, reportedly due to a short circuit in an air conditioner.Upon receiving information at the Hazratganj fire control room, two fire tenders were immediately dispatched under the supervision of the fire department. Simultaneously, the SHO of Mahanagar police station, Akhilesh Mishra, reached the spot with his team.Amid thick smoke and rapidly spreading flames, a woman, Savita, with limited mobility was found trapped inside the house. Displaying presence of mind and bravery, the SHO entered the smoke-filled premises and safely evacuated the woman in her wheelchair, ensuring her timely rescue.Fire brigade personnel who also arrived worked intensively to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building. Officials confirmed that the fire was completely extinguished after sustained efforts, and no casualties were reported.The house on Faizabad Road belonged to Ghanshyam Das Agrawal. While household items in the affected room, including furniture, were damaged, prompt action by the police and fire services prevented a major loss.
