Hazaribag: Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital is set for a major revamp, with plans to shift all OPD services from the sadar hospital campus to the medical college campus by Jan 2027, restore a non-functional C-Arm machine, and strengthen specialist availability at its trauma centre.C-Arm is an X-ray imaging machine is used to provide surgeons with real-time images of bones and joints to position implants during orthopaedic procedures.The proposals were discussed during a meeting between college principal Dr Sunil Kumar Verma and MP Manish Jaiswal’s representative, Ranjan Choudhary, on Thursday.Dr Verma said, “The under-construction OPD building is expected to be handed over by the end of Dec. If the project stays on schedule, all OPD services will be shifted from the upgraded sadar hospital campus to the new building on medical college campus next January.”“Efforts are being made to restore the orthopaedic department’s C-Arm machine, which has remained out of service for over a month, affecting surgeries. The process for procuring an additional machine is also under way,” he added.To improve emergency care, the hospital plans to ensure round-the-clock availability of senior physicians and surgeons at the trauma centre, reducing referrals of critical patients to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), Dr Verma stated.Priority is to ensure that patients coming to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital receive timely and quality treatment without facing unnecessary difficulties, the principal stressed.
