RK News Service / New Delhi, Sep 26: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday and discussed a range of issues concerning the Union Territory.
During the meeting, Sharma raised matters related to the security situation, law and order, development initiatives, public concerns and the ongoing session of the J&K Legislative Assembly.
He also raised the issue of enhancement of salaries of Special Police Officers (SPOs), which he said was at the final stage, and sought an early decision on the matter. The issue had also been described by Sharma earlier this month as being at an advanced stage with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Sharma apprised the Home Minister of concerns being raised by people across Jammu and Kashmir and discussed matters requiring continued coordination and support from the Union Government.
According to the account of the meeting, Shah reiterated the Union Government’s commitment to peace, development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support in addressing issues concerning the people of the Union Territory.
The meeting comes amid the ongoing session of the J&K Legislative Assembly, where issues related to development and governance are being discussed.
