Srinagar, Sep 26:More than five years after Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) advertised the posts of Photographer in the Culture Department, candidates are still waiting for the final selection list despite appearing in subject-specific written examinations and completing document verification.
The posts were advertised under Advertisement Notification No. 04 of 2020, dated December 16, 2020, under Item Nos. 58 and 59. The recruitment process, however, underwent a change in examination pattern, resulting in further delay for the aspirants.
The posts were initially included in the Combined Graduate Level OMR-based examination conducted on June 2, 2024. JKSSB subsequently issued a notification on October 9, 2024, stating that the syllabus provided by the indenting department required a separate examination based on the subject-specific syllabus for the Photographer post.
“Therefore, in view of the above, the aforementioned post is excluded from the Combined Graduate Level OMR Based Examination conducted on 02.06.2024,” the notification stated, announcing that a separate examination would be conducted as per the prescribed syllabus.
The separate examination was eventually conducted on March 18, 2025. The result was declared on May 27, 2025, followed by document verification on June 10, 2025.
Despite completion of these stages, candidates say the final selection list is still awaited.
“It has been five years and still there is no list,” an aspirant said, describing the prolonged recruitment process as a source of uncertainty for candidates who have already gone through the examination and verification stages.
Candidates question prolonged verification process and raise concerns over what they describe as prolonged verification in other recruitment cases.
Referring to the Cameraman selection list for the Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department, issued by JKSSB on April 28, 2026, an aspirant said certain candidates possessing certificate courses from academies had their cases marked with deficiencies and kept subject to clarification regarding recognition.
“The selection list was issued on April 28, 2026. It has been four months and I am still waiting for the eligibility certificates to be verified and for clarification on whether the academy is registered,” the aspirant said.
The candidate questioned the lengthy timelines involved in recruitment, saying that applicants continue to remain uncertain even after examinations and document verification have been completed.
For the Culture Department Photographer posts, candidates are now seeking clarity on the status of the final selection list and the expected timeline for completion of the recruitment process.
The recruitment, which began with the 2020 advertisement, has already passed through multiple stages—including an initially scheduled Graduate Level examination, its subsequent exclusion, a separate subject-specific examination, result declaration and document verification—leaving candidates waiting for the final outcome.
