Lucknow: Shahjahanpur has recorded growth in investments, infrastructure, revival of traditional crafts and improvement in educational facilities over the past nine years, said a govt spokesperson.“The district has seen the establishment of a new medical college and will soon get an university. Its connectivity with the Ganga Expressway has opened avenues for investments,” the official said.

The official said Swami Shukdevanand College will now be recognised as a university. “The medical college has been named after freedom fighter Ram Prasad Bismil. Its infrastructure and facilities are world class. It has a state-of-the-art laboratory. Students from across the state and country are pursuing their MBBS degrees here,” the official said. The area’s cottage industry of zari ardozi was revived under the One District, One Product scheme and has given a new lease of life to local artisans, the official said and added that an industrial corridor is under development as well. “A cement factory, sugar mills and other industries are providing employment to thousands of youth,” the spokesperson said. DM Dharmendra Pratap Singh said: “Special attention is being given to law and order. During public hearings, victims receive immediate assistance. “
