Ahmedabad: Commuters heading towards the airport via the Shahibaug underpas will need to plan alternative routes, as the underpass will remain closed to all traffic from Friday to Tuesday between 12 noon and 5pm. The closure is due to repair and maintenance work being carried out by the Ahmedabad division of Western Railway. Officials said all entry and exit points of the underbridge will remain shut during the specified hours, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid congestion in the Shahibaug area. Traffic coming from Delhi Darwaza and Subhash Bridge and heading towards the airport or Gandhinagar will be diverted at the end of Subhash Bridge via Shilalekh Flats. Vehicles will then be routed along the riverfront road and directed through Dafnala towards the airport and Gandhinagar.Meanwhile, traffic arriving from the Airport-Gandhinagar side will be able to use the Dafnala riverfront route to access different parts of the city. Commuters travelling towards Asarwa, Girdharnagar, Delhi Darwaza and Kalupur can pass through Shahibaug and cross the Mahapragyaji Bridge. Vehicles coming from Girdharnagar and Asarwa and heading towards Gandhinagar or the airport will be diverted via Shahibaug, Circuit House and the Army Cantonment Road. From there, motorists can proceed towards the airport, Indira Bridge and Gandhinagar.Traffic police have urged commuters to follow the diversion plan and allow extra travel time during the closure period. tnn
