Nagpur: A minor derailment of 11202 Shahdol-Nagpur (SDL-NGP) Express on Friday in the Chhindwara-Nainpur section of the South East Central Railway (SECR) delayed train operations for approximately an hour. No passenger or railway staff sustained any injuries or casualties.According to preliminary reports, two wheels of the rear SLR (Second Class Luggage and Guard’s Brake Van) coach derailed between Nainpur and Kewalmari at 12 noon shortly after the train departed from Nainpur station for Khairranji station. Railway officials said the train came to a grinding halt, causing momentary panic among some passengers on board. The South East Central Railway (SECR) authorities immediately initiated restoration work to re-rail the affected wheels and clear the track. An inquiry was ordered to determine the exact cause of the derailment, which could include factors such as track conditions, mechanical issues, or other operational aspects. The 11202 SDL-NGP Express, a daily mail/express service connecting Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh to Nagpur in Maharashtra, covers stations including Jabalpur, Seoni, and Chhindwara. “Such minor incidents, though uncommon, highlight the importance of regular track maintenance and safety protocols on this scenic but undulating route,” said an official.
