Jalandhar: Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday met the wife and a son of Gulzar Singh, a Dalit from Toor Banzara in Sangrur, who died by suicide after allegedly being intimidated for questioning Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on state govt’s inability to stop the sale of drugs.They were among the drug-affected families invited by BJP to Jalandhar to meet Shah, who also mentioned them in his speech. Gulzar’s death triggered a major political controversy in poll-bound Punjab with opposition parties demanding Cheema’s resignation.
